Nova Scotia’s forestry industry plays a vital role in our economy.

Unifor recommends:

  • Implement the recommendations arising from the Lahey Review as soon as reasonably possible, to protect the province’s vital forest ecosystems and biodiversity and create a stable operating environment for Nova Scotia’s forestry producers.
  • Commit to a stronger role for forestry workers, local communities, and Indigenous peoples in the development and implementation of forestry sector reforms. This includes a stronger role in crafting new legislation and regulations arising from the Lahey Review, as well as increased labour, community and Indigenous representation on the Forestry Sector Council (FSC) and the Forestry Transition Team.
